All-Inclusive

When asking our clients about their travel experience with Trek, the single most common reply was that they loved our all-inclusive packages. A client makes one toll free call to our office, and their entire trip, from their hometown to their final destination and back is arranged. They pay one price that includes most everything on the trip with very few exceptions. No small print, gray areas or hidden items involved.

One of the most important aspects of our all-inclusive packages is our commitment to handling airline arrangements. This is where Trek is truly unique in the adventure travel sector, as we recognized early on that it’s easy to talk about fishing in Costa Rica or hunting in Argentina, but you have to travel there first! We have learned from many years of travel experience that airline schedules can change with little or no warning. Therefore, it is critical that you have an agency that is well informed and has the ability to improvise when necessary. Trek employs four full-time travel agents armed with bulk rate contracts from many foreign and national carriers servicing our destinations. This allows us to block seats from most major points of departure like Miami, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Dallas. In addition to including flights from these cities in our packages, we are also able to offer the best rates possible for connecting flights to these departure points. The ability to block inventory on airlines to control prices, and having a staff that can react to the airline market, are the main reasons why Trek has always been a step ahead of the competition.

In addition to arranging airline travel for our members, we have found that it is also just as important to have the proper documentation for the country you are visiting. Visas, passports, hunting permits, gun entry permits, and all other licensing procedures can be arranged through our office or our expeditionary contacts in Washington, D.C. It is Trek’s contention to retain as much control over these documents as possible. Otherwise they end up in government red tape that may take longer than anticipated. Again, we are the best in the business at getting you properly prepared to travel to your destination where all the fun begins.

About Trek

Trek International Safaris is an association of sportsmen who enjoy outdoor adventures in the U.S. and abroad. Since 1973, Trek has arranged quality hunting and fishing trips for thousands of clients each year involving over 40 countries worldwide and hundreds of different trips.

In the beginning, Trek pioneered and outfitted hunts in Honduras and learned the benefits of good scouting habits and hard work. With our initial success there, we took our efforts to Mexico and other countries in Central and South America, where we send more clients than anyone in the world. Since those early days of booking and operating trips, Trek now has over 16,000 active clients enjoying over 150 different types of outdoor trips from Argentina to Alaska, and The Bahamas to Africa. We have expanded our range of services by forming a travel agency with the ability to handle a full range of travel service for customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my destination safe?

Trek Safaris does not operate in countries that are deemed unsafe by the State Department of the U.S. Government.  We are in constant contact with all of our outfitters, and we keep abreast of any changes in stability that may arise. You may also check with http://travel.state.gov/travel_warnings.html

2. Are there any diseases I should be aware of?

In some cases, preventive vaccinations or medicines are required.  Please check with your personal physician or the Center For Disease Control (800-311-3435 or www.cdc.gov) regarding inoculation information for the area you are visiting.

3. Do I need a passport?

Passports are required for all U.S. citizens.  Some countries also require that your passport be valid for six months after travel.  Please contact the Trek Safaris office if you are not a U.S. citizen or have any questions regarding your passport.

4. Do I need a visa?

Some countries do require a visa.  In most instances, Trek Safaris can handle the paperwork for you, or put you in contact with an expediter who specializes in visas.

5. Do I need a hunting/ fishing license?

Hunting or fishing licenses are required for all Trek Safaris trips.  The cost of this license is included in your trip fee.  License forms required for your destination will be sent out at time of billing.

6. Are gun rentals available?

Yes, most of our lodges offer gun rentals.  Please call the Trek Safaris office for rates and types of guns available.

7. What type of fishing equipment is available?

Trek has many years of experience setting up trips in foreign countries.  This experience includes knowing what equipment works best.  Trek Safaris provides the best equipment available for each given area.  Please contact the Trek office for any questions on the type of equipment available for your destination.

8. What type of equipment should I bring?

Every client will receive a trip itinerary approximately 60 days prior to your trip.  Your itinerary will list recommended clothing and equipment lists for your destination.

9. Can non-hunting or non-fishing customers go on one of your trips?

Most certainly, however, some destinations offer more activities than others.  Please call the Trek office to see what additional activities would be available for your non-hunting/non-fishing companions.

10. How is the food?

Our outfitters are adept at serving international cuisine, as well as local favorites.  Each location has different specialties and offers the best food available for the area.

11. Can I drink the water?

Many countries still do not have water that is safe for drinking.  Bottled water is available on all of our trips and the Trek office can advise you on your destination.

12. When is the best time of the year to go on my trip?

All of our advertised dates are offered during the season for each area.  Water levels and tides will affect fishing, and the Trek office is knowledgeable in helping your pick your date.  Weather can affect both fishing and hunting trips and is beyond our control.

13. Can I extend my trip or add a side trip?

In many instances, extending your trip or adding a side trip is no problem.  Please call the Trek office for suggestions or questions on a particular destination.

14. Do your outfitters and guides speak English?

All of our outfitters are bilingual.  Captains, lodge or camp managers, and guides are all experienced in the local areas but may or may-not be bilingual, depending on the location.  For the most part, we prefer local guides who know the area.  Feedback and performance help us in the selection of the best guides.

15. What advantages are offered by booking my trip with Trek?

We are acting as your agents when booking a trip through Trek.  The advantages are many!  Since Trek was founded in 1973 we have the superior expertise to plan and deliver a worry-free trip.  There is always someone from our office on call 24/7 to help with any logistical problems or questions that may arise during your trip.  Many of our trips include bulk airfare in the package price, and our experienced in-house travel department can help with a variety of travel questions and needs.  We have an excellent document department that can handle all of your permits, licenses, and travel documents in an expedited manner

While all of these services are truly unique to Trek, the ability to quickly place you on a trip of your choice among a world wide network of outfitters sets us apart from any other agency in the world.

Conservation & Responsible Hunting

When searching for an agent or outfitter for your foreign travels, we think it is vitally important to choose one with a reputation for practicing conservation, and understands its responsibility to the future of hunting and fishing destinations. Trek Safaris has always been a leader in conservation issues, dating back to our conception in 1973. Realizing that fisheries around the world are indeed assets, Trek has practiced “catch and release” programs in all the destinations we promote. This has substantially enhanced the fish populations and has increased chances for hook-ups for our guests.

Our conservation efforts have gone a long way towards establishing solid relations with the local natives (especially in third world countries), and encouraging good will for the future. While you are browsing through our website, you will not see dead billfish hanging on a scale or piles of fish rotting in the sun, but only live fish that have been either released or taken as legal limits such as salmon, halibut or an occasional dorado.

It is no secret that Trek is the largest wing shooting agency in the U.S., sending thousands of shooters around the world every year. This fact is supported by our 40 years of experience in the hunting arena, whereby our staff has actually operated these hunts to our specifications and then passed along our knowledge to the local outfitter. In our view, the single most important aspect of providing a good hunt is to scout, scout and scout some more and then hunt in a responsible manner. It does no good to find the birds if you do not implement a strategy that will allow consistent hunting across the board.

In some countries where limits are either non-existent or enforced by the local authorities, it has always been our position to impose voluntary limits for which each hunter is responsible. In most cases this has worked to everyone’s benefit as our clients get to hunt areas that receive little pressure, and we are able to conserve the hunting areas for the long haul. It is Trek’s position that there is nothing to gain by hunting any species to near extinction and our long-term managing of the game is the main reason we are rated the top wing shooting agency in the U.S. by most major publications.
