The Trip
You will fly into Johannesburg, where Trek can arrange a partner representative to transfer you to the Hotel InterContinental Johannesburg, a safe short 225 feet walk from the bustling OR Tambo Airport terminal building after clearing customs. It is a great location for a short overnight stay.
The following morning, a member from Glen Guinea Lodge will pick you up in the lobby of the hotel and transfer you about 2 hours and 20min south to the lodge. Upon arrival you’ll be greeted by the team and shown to your rooms. After a wonderful lunch, you’ll head out for the first afternoon shoot.
During the stay, you’ll have the opportunity to hunt a true South African mixed bag hunt of doves, pigeons, upland birds with professionally trained bird dogs (Helmeted Guineafowl, Swainson’s Spurfowl, Orange River Francolin, and Common Quail), and waterfowl (Egyptian Goose, Spur-winged Goose, Yellow-billed Duck, Red-billed Teal, and Red-knobbed Coot). Shooting expectations would be around 20 wild birds per hunter per day on days where you hunt upland birds and waterfowl. Dove and pigeon numbers can very but can be upwards in the range of the 500 birds.
After your afternoon shoot, you’ll head back to the lodge to clean up and relax before having dinner! The following three and a half days will be filled with exceptional shooting, cuisine and camaraderie.
After one final morning outing in the fields, you will transfer back to the lodge to clean up and settle up with the lodge. You then will be transferred back to Johannesburg where you will either head back to the states or continue your African Safari!

The Experience
A typical stay includes 3 full days and 2 half days of shooting, for a total of 8 hunts. Days are thoughtfully structured to maximize variety and enjoyment, with morning upland hunts followed by afternoon waterfowl or volume shooting.
After the day’s sport, guests return to the lodge to relax by the fireplace, enjoy cocktails, and settle in for excellent evening meals.
Beyond the Hunt
Glen Guinea is also an excellent destination for non-hunting guests. Just over an hour away, the town of Clarens—set in the beautiful Maluti Mountains—offers golf, hiking, wine tasting, shopping, and spa experiences, making this a rewarding trip for couples and mixed-interest groups alike.
Game Viewing Opportunities
Extend your shooting trip with a thrilling safari adventure for game viewing in South Africa or Botswana with easy accessibility from Johannesburg.
