A native of Trek’s hometown of Jacksonville, FL, Milton is passionate about sports, the outdoors and planning adventures of a lifetime for Trek clients. He joined our team in 1980, learning the Trek way from company founders Bob and Shirley Cloaninger.

In 1983, Milton married the Cloaningers’ daughter Cara, who along with her brother Mike, purchased Trek Safaris in 1994 and operated it until Mike passed in 2001.

“I am extremely proud of Trek’s rich 50-plus year history as a pioneer in the adventure travel industry and as a family company through and through,” says Milton. “Cara and I have an abiding passion for making our clients’ dreams for adventure come to fruition and it truly is a privilege to have the opportunity to serve.”

Cara grew up with Trek Safaris, as she is the daughter of the company founders, the late Bob and Shirley Cloaninger. In 1980, Cara came to work at Trek alongside her father, mother, brother (the late Mike Cloaninger), and her future husband, Milton Hanburry.

At a young age, Cara began traveling the world and has not slowed down since. Cara has worn many hats in serving Trek clients, from travel agent to accounting and everything in between.

“Trek is truly part of my DNA, so Milton and I continue to be very driven to guide this company— and in doing so to honor the vision and hard work of my Dad and Mom. “We look forward to hosting you soon on a thrilling Trek adventure.”

Kevin Gehm

A native of Northeast Florida and graduate of the University of North Florida, Kevin began his Trek adventure in 1995 after a few decades in the restaurant and hospitality business. Initially brought on board to assist on the “fishing” side of the office in North, Central and South America, Kevin has expanded his role over the years to also include operating various wing shooting programs in Nicaragua and Bolivia.

“What I enjoy most about Trek is making sure our clients’ dream trip comes off as they visualize,” says Kevin. “The friends I have made (both clients and our partners around the globe) have greatly expanded my knowledge and understanding about our world and enhanced my appreciation of what we have.”

Jennifer joined trek in 2023, and her sharp wit and bubbly personality has already made her a favorite among our team and clients. In her role at Trek, Jennifer works directly with clients to handle the many critical details that are essential for seamless adventures.

“It's rewarding to help organize and ensure our clients' travel adventures are seamless and memorable,” she says.

Jennifer studied Communication at University of Cincinnati, and she applies her education every day in her work and in her spare time as a creator of viral TikTok reels.

Miranda, who joined Trek in 2020, leans on eight years of experience in the travel industry to help take the stress out of our clients’ travel plans. Her passion for people and curious nature make are perfectly aligned for her responsibilities at Trek.

“Not only do I get to work with a great team and wonderful clients, but there's always something new to learn,” she says. “The travel industry is constantly changing, which keeps the environment exciting.”

Hailing from Old Town, FL, Miranda studied sociology and geography at Florida State University. She enjoys reading, writing, hiking, traveling, as well as discovering new bookstores and coffee shops.

Jason Luther

Jason oversees marketing and digital strategies for Trek, working closely with our team and outfitter partners to showcase the value Trek brings to deliver remarkable adventures for our clients. A seven-year veteran of our team, Jason’s passion for Trek as a former longtime client is evident in the cohesiveness of all components of Trek’s marketing and branding output.

“I have admired Trek for more than 30 years,” Jason says “It is truly a privilege to tell the Trek story through our website, social media platforms and many other media we employ to connect with our clients and partners.”

Jason studied literature and journalism at the University of Houston before establishing a career in marketing for multiple Fortune 500 companies. Jason’s passions include fly fishing and spending time with his wife, Lisa, daughter Grace and son Jackson.

Shaun McKanna

Shaun is a 10-year Trek veteran with 17 years of experience in the travel industry. If you’ve booked your air travel with Shaun over the past decade, you have likely been the beneficiary of Shaun’s expertise, unflappable demeanor and expertise with the airline industry.

“The thing I love most about Trek is working with an amazing team to create unforgettable travel experiences for our clients,” says Shaun.

Shaun studied humanities at the University of South Florida and is an avid surfer. He has an incurable case of wanderlust who you can often find at the nearest tiki bar.

Tanner Palmore

Tanner joined our team in 2023 and hit the ground running serving clients of our South American hunting programs. He has also been instrumental in identifying and vetting exciting new Trek shooting programs.

“I enjoy the family atmosphere of our office, our partners and very often our clients,” says Tanner. “I’m proud of working with a team that truly prioritizes relationships. Working with our long time partners, building and creating new partnerships, and knowing everybody involved from start to finish has the sole purpose of satisfying our clients makes it easy each morning to come to the office with a positive attitude.”

Tanner studied at Wichita State University. When not at Trek or hosting groups on shooting or fishing adventures, he can often be found watching baseball with Samantha, his Burmese mountain dog.

A seasoned Trek veteran with 38 years at the company, Kathy is well known by our longtime clients as an expert in our industry. Kathy is certified in the Amadeus and Sabre Airline Systems and fluent in Trek’s proprietary travel management systems.

“I love the office camaraderie and client relationships I have developed over the years,” she says.

A native of Mt. Clemens, MI, Kathy is the spouse of Larry Price, a former Trek team member who led our hunting operations for many years. Out of the office, she enjoys hiking, horseback riding and reading.”
