Ernest Hemingway once wrote “I never knew of a morning in Africa when I was not happy.” Through 50 years of hosting Africa dream adventures, countless Trek clients have experienced the enchantment of a majestic land that so inspired Hemingway. The experience and relationships Trek has acquired over the past five-plus decades makes your part easy, so buckle in for the African safari of your dreams.

Africa is a land of stunning sights, incomparable game viewing, enchanting culture and exceedingly hospitable people. Throughout this sensational adventure, you’ll experience the absolute best of all of these, while enjoying the luxurious comfort of the finest safari camps on the African continent.

Over 13 days and 12 nights, we will explore Cape Town and enjoy up-close encounters with Africa’s mythical wild game as we journey through the Okavango Delta, Kwedi Concession, Linyanti Concession and Matetsi Private Game Reserve. Trek’s longtime partner representatives at Wilderness Safaris will be with you every step of the way to ensure you enjoy the adventure of a lifetime.

Our journey starts with your arrival to Cape Town and a transfer to the luxurious Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, where you will unwind from the transatlantic journey. This night at the Twelve Apostles will get your feet under you before you hit the bush.

Despite the fact you are visiting three countries, this trip is seamless and easily arranged using Trek’s network of expert guides and tour partners. You will be flying in small aircraft or helicopters from camp to camp as there are no roads to be traveled.

After your stay at the Twelve Apostles, you will fly commercially to Maun, Botswana where our partner Wilderness Safaris will brief you before embarking on your meticulously curated itinerary. Your next six days will be filled with thrilling game drives at four fabulous safari camps within the Okavango, Kwedi, Linyanti and Matetsi. Optional game viewing activities such via hot air balloon and helicopter are available to upgrade your experience.

After your days in the bush, we have prepared a special flight from Kasane to Victoria Falls where you will see this great spectacle from the air followed by a land transfer to Matetsi Victoria Falls Hotel, your idyllic accommodation retreat set on the  Zambezi River. After leaving Victoria Falls you will take a commercial flight back to Cape Town, and once again make Twelve Apostles, your home for your next two days of activities, which will include a wine and vineyard tour, Cape Peninsula tour, Table Mountain and the waterfront.

With a population of roughly two million people, 40% of Botswana’s land is dedicated to parks and wildlife. The two largest rivers, the Okavango and the Chobe, attract diverse wildlife year round.

Botswana has done an incredible job of limiting the number of tourists in the bush. You will not encounter the congestion of vehicles while game viewing as you will see on other African countries. It is truly a life changing experience.

Get closer to thrilling wildlife interactions and encounter mythical creatures big and small on morning and afternoon game drives. The sightings you experience on your game drives will be talked about, not only around the campfire but for years to come.

You will see animals of all types, mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, and fish. Some of the dangerous game you will encounter include African elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, wild dogs, Lechwe, Roan and Sitatunga antelopes, hippos, buffaloes and many more wildlife species.

Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta covering 5,800 square miles. Your camp will have its own private game drives in open Land Rovers using the best guides in Botswana who will not only get you close to the animals but teach you a few things as well.

Kwedi Concession is an impressive reserve known for its excellent wildlife spotting opportunities and water activities. The enthralling mopane bushveld and vast floodplains are home to a huge number of animal species, including wild dog, lion, hyena, and leopard (these species are the most commonly spotted) as well as giraffes, elephants, Burchell’s zebra, and numerous antelope species. The reserve offers day and night game drives, as well as guided walks and photography tours. Fringing the abundant Okavango Delta, the reserve is decorated with permanent waterways, tree islands, and swamps – providing the chance for kayaking, boat tours, and bird spotting.

Linyanti Concession stretches across the Kwando- Linyanti river system. They are known for their exotic animal species and luxury safari options. An abundance of wildlife roams freely between the woodland habitats, ancient floodplains and forests that make up these lush, unfenced reserves. The big game in this area increases dramatically during the dry season when the area hosts large herds of impala, blue wildebeest, giraffe and buffalo as well as the world’s highest density of elephant. Several packs of wild dog are found in the area and lion, leopard and cheetah are frequently sighted. Night drives allow for the discovery of nocturnal creatures such as civets, genets, honey badgers and spring hares. This vast, untamed wilderness is the perfect location for those seeking a unique African adventure in an exclusive and remote big game habitat.

Matetsi Private Game Reserve beckons with an exceptional safari experience within a pristine wilderness with easy access to the majestic Victoria Falls. Divided into East and West sections, Matetsi boasts distinct charm. Travellers can enjoy exhilarating game drives, guided walks, and Zambezi River cruises, providing a chance to encounter a diverse range of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, and various bird species. Night drives give the opportunity to see a wide array of nocturnal species, including hyena, civet, serval and genets.

Cape Town’s reputation as being one of the most beautiful places on earth is well earned. Among the stunning sights of Cape Town are Table Mountain National Park, a World Heritage Site, and the Twelve Apostles mountain range. Our itinerary offers a number of thrilling activities to choose from, including bike tours, hiking and a variety of museums.
