Thank you for your interest in Trek’s South Africa Photo Safari. Trek has more than 50 years of experience and relationships we can draw upon to design the perfect itinerary for your African adventure.

For our African Photo Safaris we are proud to be a wholesaler for Wilderness Safaris.  Wilderness Safaris was founded in 1983 and is run by a group of likeminded wildlife enthusiasts who came together to build a successful safari business, delivering a unique experience for guests while ensuring that southern Africa’s pristine wilderness areas remain sustainably protected.

South Africa has some top-notch game lodges. South Africa offers megafauna game viewing (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard and plains game). Sabi Sabi Game Reserve is exclusive private game reserve next to the world-renowned Kruger National Park and the is one of the most prestigious in South Africa. Sabi Sands is known for the frequency of leopard and lion sightings within its boundaries, and the chances of seeing all of the Big Five during your visit are high.

We have put together a sample itinerary in a digital brochure for what we call The Best of South Africa Photo Safari.

In this sample itinerary our journey starts with your arrival to Cape Town and a transfer to the luxurious Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, where you will unwind from the transatlantic journey. The Twelve Apostles is a beautifully appointed boutique hotel located in Camps Bay.

This night at the Twelve Apostles will get your feet under you before you hit the bush. After your stay at the Twelve Apostles, you will fly into the South African Bush.

Located in Singita Sabi Sand in South Africa, Boulder Lodge gives guests access to 45,000 acres within a breathtaking wildlife sanctuary that’s renowned for its high concentrations of big game and frequent leopard sightings. Sabi Sands is an extension of Kruger National Park and has the same relatively thick vegetation consisting of woodland savannah. Two rivers run through the reserve, providing water. The riverine vegetation makes an excellent habitat for leopards and other wildlife.

Located in the Thornybush Private Game Reserve, The Lodge at Royal Malewane offers an unrivalled safari experience in South Africa’s Greater Kruger National Park that exudes the romance and beauty of a bygone age while offering every modern comfort. Kruger National Park offers magnificent wildlife viewing. All the major safari animals are present including the Big Five. The big cats are present in healthy numbers, and lions, in particular, are frequently seen. Elephants and buffalo are common throughout, while white rhino, though still numerous, are under threat from poaching. Kruger NP has a wide variety of antelope including greater kudu and the very common impala.

Set within a Big Five private game reserve in the Greater Kruger Park of South Africa, Jabulani is a special marriage of conservation and hospitality, a place to meet magnificent wildlife, rest deeply, dine under open skies, enjoy sundowners with elephants, and reconnect with nature. Jabulani was built to help look after a herd of rescued elephants, nearly twenty years ago, and has led to the establishment of South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage, called HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation & Development).

After your time in the bush you can spend some time in Cape Town where we recommend in this sample itinerary The TwleveApostles Hotel and Spa. The Twelve Apostles is a beautifully appointed boutique hotel located in Camps Bay. And at the foot of TableMountain.

There are also number of other activities to choose from in Cape Town, including a wine and vineyard tour, Cape Peninsula tour, Table Mountain, The Waterfront, a bike tour, hiking and a number of museums. Cape Town’s reputation as being one of the most beautiful places on earth is not unfounded and the Twelve Apostles bar and restaurant are the town’s best offering superb local cuisine and expert service along with a breathtaking sunset.

Again, these are sample itineraries we can tailor any itinerary based on your budget and preferences to make your African experience a trip of a lifetime.

South Africa is a land of breath-taking landscapes, remarkable ecosystems and warm-hearted people. Trek’s longtime partners at Wilderness Safaris will take you on a tailor-made journey to the best South Africa has to offer.

A melting pot of cultures, history, breath-taking landscapes, and abundant wildlife, there’s nowhere quite like South Africa. Throughout this adventure, you’ll encounter miles of powdery beaches, dramatic mountainscapes, picturesque winelands, star-studded desert skies, wide-open plains teeming with wildlife, plus Cape Town – undeniably one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa boasts 70 elegant, individually designed bedrooms and suites, including a Presidential Suite. The hotel offers splendid luxury, passionate service, generous hospitality and exquisite cuisine. Guests are invited to relax in the infinity or heated rock pool, enjoy mountain walks, surrender the senses in the tranquil Spa, or indulge in a movie night in the private cinema. Cocktails at the Leopard Bar are legendary, while gourmets will delight in the superb wine and dine experience on offer at Azure Restaurant and The Café Grill.

Singita Boulders Lodge is a small luxury lodge comprising 12 glass-fronted suites offering the utmost privacy, ultra-spacious interiors and heated pools, with handmade furnishings and soft, natural fabrics mirroring the breathtaking scenery outside.

The Lodge at Royal Malewane is a classic and luxurious safari lodge with just six Luxury Suites, two Royal Suites (which each have two bedrooms) along with accommodations at Farmstead. They also have a Private Bush Villa that is a private villa with your own staff. It has endless views over the Greater Kruger plains in a wildlife-rich setting, the villa suites overlook a waterhole drawing antelope and elephant all day long.

Jabulani is a 5-star safari lodge in South Africa’s Greater Kruger Park, offering a luxury stay, exquisite dining & unforgettable wildlife and elephant encounters. The style and ambience of Jabulani resonate with that of a classic safari lodge, refined with modern touches. The main area features an elegant dining room and lounge that lead to an outside wooden deck lying beneath the shade of Leadwood trees – the ideal setting to enjoy an alfresco lunch while overlooking the waterhole. Jabulani’s signature suspension bridge stretches gracefully over the river bed, connecting to the six Jabulani suites, Villa Somopane and Zindoga Villa.
