Thank you for your interest in our African Photo Safaris—the team at Trek Safaris draws upon more than 50 years of experience and relationships to design the perfect itinerary for your African adventure.

For our African Photo Safaris we are proud to be a wholesaler for Wilderness Safaris. Wilderness Safaris was founded in 1983 and is run by a group of likeminded wildlife enthusiasts who came together to build a successful safari business, delivering a unique experience for guests while ensuring that southern Africa’s pristine wilderness areas remain sustainably protected.

We have put together a sample itinerary in a digital brochure for what we call Kenya and Tanzania Adventure Photo Safari.

In this sample itinerary our journey starts with your arrival to Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city, and transfer to Giraffe Manor. Giraffe Manor blends extraordinary wildlife encounters with exquisite hospitality and a long-term commitment to giraffe conservation. One of the most fascinating things about Giraffe Manor is its resident herd of Rothschild’s giraffes who may visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary.

After departing Giraffe Manor you will fly by charter flight to Mara Bushtops Camp in Masai Mara.

The words “exclusive” and “luxurious” are often exaggerations: at Mara Bushtops they fit like a glove. Watching from your own 110 square metre private deck as an abundance of wildlife congregates around the adjacent salt lick is, literally, unforgettable. Mara Bushtops boats a sensational location in front of the largest natural salt lick in the Mara and perched on the side of a hill, with a scenic valley to one side. Set amid the Bushtops private Conservancy bordering the Masai Mara.

Mara Bushtops is set within our own 6,500 acre private wildlife reserve – the Bushtops Wildlife Conservancy (Isaaten). Access to the Conservancy is exclusive to the Masai and Bushtops guests, who benefit from private night and off-road game drives, walking safaris direct from the Camp, sundowners, sunrises on the Sekenani hill and visits to the nearby Kakiya cave.

After your departure from Mara Bushtops you will fly by charter plane to the Serengeti in Tanzania and will transfer to Wilderness Usawa Seregeti.

With access to nine key migration sites across the Serengeti, Wilderness Usawa Serengeti is truly mobile, following the ever-moving mega-herds throughout the year. The flexibility of Wilderness Usawa Serengeti allows us to move more often and at short notice, ensuring guests are always near the action, but far enough from the crowded tourist hotspots. Though the camp set-up is completely mobile, it is luxuriously appointed; no comfort is sacrificed.

Game viewing in the Serengeti is unparalleled. The volume of wildlife is unmatched anywhere in Africa. Predators are abundant too, with prides of lion, hyenas, crocodiles and cheetah thriving on the sheer volume of available prey.

Serengeti National Park, at 15,000 square kilometres (1.5 million hectares) is one of the seven natural wonders of Africa and home to the Great Migration; here two million wildebeest, zebra and other plains game cross the savannah in search of grazing grounds and water, prey to a variety of predators including lions, hyenas and crocodiles.

Upon leaving Wilderness Usawa Serengeti you will once again travel by charter plane to The Highlands in the Ngorongoro Crater.

The Highlands redefines the Ngorongoro experience. Set on the edge of the mountain forest hugging the Olmoti Crater to the north of Ngorongoro Crater. Experience the highlands of the wild Ngorongoro Conservation Area surrounding the camp, home to buffalo, smaller predators, and majestic moorland scenery. Follow ancient Maasai trails to the rim of the Olmoti Crater and visit local communities to catch a glimpse into the traditional Maasai way of life that has defined this corner of East Africa for centuries. The famous Ngorongoro Crater is easily accessible from camp, while the setting ensures maximum privacy, a rich adventure, and a range of activities not possible elsewhere in Ngorongoro.

Located in Northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife, which makes it one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations. Surrounded by Tanzania’s highlands, this UNESCO-listed crater is said to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.

Once you leave the bush you will travel by charter flight to Arusha. You will transfer to the Legendary Lodge for your last night before heading home. Legendary Lodge is located at the foothills of Mount Meru, on the outskirts of the bustling town of Arusha and is the gateway to the Northern Safari Circuit of Tanzania. This classic haven boasts lush tropical gardens and is surrounded by a working coffee farm. The peaceful cottages are the perfect place to reflect on your safari.

Again, this is a sample itinerary. We can tailor any itinerary based on your budget and preferences to make your African experience a trip of a lifetime.

Kenya is widely known and celebrated as being the original home of Africa’s first safaris. The Mara-Serengeti ecosystem, one of the most diverse wildlife conservation areas in Africa, connects Tanzania’s Serengeti with Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Tanzania almost twice the size of Kenya. Tanzania has the largest concentration of animals per square kilometer on the continent.

The Masai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara National Reserve is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara.

It is known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. Large prides of lions, herds of elephants, as well as giraffes, gazelles and eland can also be spotted in the reserve.

Giraffe Manor and has been immaculately renovated to become one of the most sought-after hotels in the world. The manor’s six rooms, original art deco bathroom, antique furniture and the names of each room all reveal something of the manor’s colorful past.

In 2011, a new section of the manor was created – The Garden Manor – which sits right next door. It was constructed using reclaimed materials from the period in which the original manor was built and its design replicates that of the main house. The Garden Manor also has six lovely guest rooms: Salma, Edd, Arlene, Helen, Kelly and the Finch Hatton Suite..

Mara Bushtops is an extraordinary luxury tented camp, comprising 12 fabulously appointed tents named after the wildlife which can be seen wandering past the Camp (or sometimes through it). Bounded by more than a hundred square metres of private wooden decking, these tents are places to rest, enjoy a private meal, dream in a hot tub or simply relax under a canvas canopy – with views no hotel could hope to match.

Additional features include 24 hour butler service, indoor and outdoor showers, power and wi-fi.

Wilderness Usawa Serengeti is a mobile tented camp operation to follow the Serengeti National Park’s legendary Great Migration. Mobile, yet completely luxurious, the Wilderness Usawa Serengeti experience offers maximum action without compromising on comfort, in close proximity to the migratory herds, but set away from the high-density tourist areas.

Wilderness’ camp locations are ideally situated within the Serengeti’s designated walking zones, allowing guided walks to begin directly from camp. Exceptionally knowledgeable and expertly trained, the guides shape truly memorable Serengeti guest experiences. In addition, game drives, birding and stargazing are available from camp. Wilderness Usawa Serengeti accommodates 12 guests in six en-suite safari tents. The camps are solar powered, with rechargeable lights and charging stations in the rooms, as well as Wi-Fi and hot water.

Legendary Lodge is located at the foothills of Mount Meru on the outskirts of Arusha. This is the gateway to the Northern Safari Circuit of Tanzania. A classic haven, the lodge boasts lush tropical gardens and is surrounded by a working coffee farm.

The tranquil lodge grounds have 10 private cottages and two generously spaced family cottages. Retreat to the seclusion of your own cottage, with oversized beds and romantic billowing mosquito nets to relax and prepare for, or reflect on, your thrilling African adventure.
