This year, Trek is celebrating its 30th season hosting shooters in Nicaragua with our local outfitter partner Marvin Townsend. There are so many reasons our longtime clients love this program, with exceptional hunting quality and short travel times topping the list.

With direct flights from Houston and Miami, some of the most exceptional blue-winged teal hunting you’ll ever experience is less than a three-hour flight away. Dates are limited, so please contact our team for details.

Marvin’s meticulous management of the 25,000-acre Estero Real Lagoon where we hunt has resulted in three decades of sensational duck hunting for Trek shooters, and with considerable rainfall this summer, the outlook for a banner season this year is outstanding. With numerous hunting operations investments, including new guns, this season in Nicaragua earned our pick as a top fall adventure.

This season, we are running back our Duck and Dove Combo program, as the resident whitewing population is thriving. Trek’s long-time dove guide in Honduras, Prudencio Gonzales, has teamed up with Marvin this year, bringing 40 years of experience to the operation. Nicaragua is a country of outstanding rum, fine, hand-rolled cigars and, most importantly, some of the most incredible blue-winged teal hunting you’ll ever experience. With shorter travel times than most international destinations, this program is ideal for those with limited travel windows; but, rest assured, you will not sacrifice the quality of your hunting opportunities.

During this adventure you’ll enjoy three of these unforgettable morning duck hunts and three afternoon white-winged dove shoots. You’ll enjoy single-room accommodations at the Hotel Farrallones, or, if you elect to upgrade your program, you may opt for the deluxe Hotel Los Portales.

Upon arrival to Managua, Nicaragua, you’ll be met at the airport by your hosts and taken by air-conditioned vans straight to your hotel in Chinandega. The drive is about two hours on paved highway.

The following three days are full hunting days. We will shoot both morning and afternoon, returning to the hotel for lunch and a siesta in the middle of the day.

Imagine sitting comfortably in a lush, tropical lagoon as the Papagayo winds are gently tugging at your back when a flock of teal comes zipping into your decoys against the backdrop of a smoking volcano. This scene is played out every day from October-March in Nicaragua, home to one of the largest concentrations of wintering blue-winged teal in Central America.

The Chinandega lagoons are a truly special place to hunt, and as day breaks, the action comes fast and furious. Early decoying Teal appear out of nowhere, and as day breaks from behind San Cristobal Volcano, it’s game on for the duck hunt of your life.

Literally, thousands and thousands of these fast flying ducks call Nicaragua home through February, or as long as the water holds. Add in some challenging white-winged and mourning doves, and you have the makings of a nice mixed bag hunt in warm tropical climates.

We’ll usually hunt ducks in the mornings and dove in the afternoons, depending on game concentration and time of year. We can also customize your trip to include as many duck hunts as you wish, priced accordingly.

Both Los Portales and the upgraded Hotel Farallones feature single room accommodations with hot water, AC, cable TV, WiFi, and a large swimming pool with outdoor BBQ setting. Meals and cocktails will be taken in the restaurant and lounge.
