The Ultimate Amazon Peacock Bass Adventure
Recommended Length
4 or 6 Fishing Days
Season(s)
January, February, October, November, December
Of all the “bucket-list” destinations Trek offers, this adventure battling the Amazon’s infamously aggressive peacock bass is among one of Trek’s most popular, year after year. Anticipating your first hard-hitting peacock strike, setting the hook and landing this fierce-fighting monster may be the most thrilling freshwater experience you will ever encounter. And the sheer number of peacocks Trek groups typically land on this adventure will reside in your memories for a lifetime.
Over the past two and a half decades, Trek has made a number of expeditions into Brazil to locate the latest and greatest options for our clients seeking big peacock bass action and Amazonian adventure. Most recently, we have found what we believe to be the absolute best and most unique way to target trophy peacock bass anywhere: remote fly-in floating cabins.
The floating cabin configuration provides unmatched portability that allows us to continue to explore new waters and deliver clients deep into the hot spots. This experience is a safari on the water; you are literally in the bush, in close proximity to wildlife you will only see in the rainforests of Brazil, but with creature comforts like queen-sized beds and air conditioning.
Take pause to consider this feat of modern ingenuity. You have been flown deep into the Brazilian rainforest via floatplane, to fish sections of the Amazon River system where relative few anglers have cast a line. Yet, each night you’ll sleep in the cool comfort of your own deluxe cabin.
As this is Trek’s most popular freshwater angling adventure, prime dates are in high demand. Please contact us so we can start planning the peacock bass fishing experience you’ll always remember.
The Trip
Upon landing in Manaus, Brazil, you will be met by a Trek rep and taken to the Hotel Millennium for the night. The next morning, we will take a private float plane charter landing as close to camp as possible on the river we will be fishing. Weather and time permitting, you will fish this afternoon followed by either 4 full or 6 full days fishing. The final morning, we will meet the float plane for charter back to Manaus and transfer back to the Millennium Hotel where a day room will be reserved to pass the time until your evening departure back to the U.S.
The Experience
The black water rivers of Brazil’s Amazon are home to over 2,500 species of fish, the most famous of which is the hard-fighting Peacock Bass. These powerful fighters are extremely aggressive producing devastating top water and subsurface action unlike any other freshwater fish in the world. You know you’re fishing for a bruiser when the guide hands you medium-heavy action rod & reel spooled with 80 lb. test braided line and a 6” top water lure with several 4/0 treble hooks hanging from it! Trek is offering a chance to set the hook while fishing 6 full days with 7 nights in camp. We’ll be fishing exclusive & private waters designated for only the Cabin anglers that have allowed us to manage the amount of fishing pressure on a given area greatly enhancing the numbers and quality of Peacock Bass available to anglers. You will wake up each morning at 5:30 am for breakfast and then leave for the day’s fishing with an experienced native guide in one of our custom-built 20’ all welded aluminum bass boats, returning around 5:00 pm for a dip in the river or a shower, hors d’oeuvres and dinner at 7:00 pm. You can then spend some time enjoying the sounds of the rainforest and telling stories about the day’s adventure.
The Accommodations
Through the years, Trek has utilized various methods of accessing the tremendous fishery known as the Amazon Basin; from mother ships to land based yachts, but nothing can match the Floating Cabin experience. We have taken this a step further by contracting a new and upgraded Single Occupancy Camp. Forget the need to share a small space with your buddy, as each fisherman will have their own air-conditioned cabin complete with queen bed and personal bath. Each cabin is 12’ by 15’, complete with queen bed, a/c, and bathroom with shower, hot water and storage areas for your clothes and equipment. We have a large dining cabin with a/c where each group will enjoy meals of fish, pasta, meats and salads. The cabins will be located on private tributaries offering exclusive fishing access for guests while taking a maximum of only six anglers on each date. To top this off, ALL tackle (rods, reels and lures) is included in the trip fee so the saying “show up and fish” literally applies for this adventure.
