Trek Safaris is excited to introduce you to the most distinctive way to experience the Brazilian Amazon’s premier peacock bass fishing. The Zaltan is a five-star floating hotel offering anglers a lavish live-aboard stay and the mobility to fish deep into the wildest areas where unsuspecting trophy peacocks lurk.

This thrilling peacock bass adventure begins with an overnight flight to Manaus, Brazil, via Panama City, Panama. After clearing immigrations/customs in Manaus, you will be met by our ground agents and transferred to a salon in the airport where you can relax until it’s time to board a charter flight to Santa Isabel.

From Santa Isabel, you’ll be escorted to our waiting mothership. Here, you will be assigned your cabin and will have time to put away your gear and relax as the boat sets sail.

Your first day in Brazil is not a fishing day, but one to relax and socialize with the other arriving anglers and your captain and crew. We normally stop at one of the nearby villages, where you will have the opportunity for some cultural immersion and gift buying, should you wish to venture out.

Your next six days will be full days of chasing peacocks. Each morning you will have a 5:30am breakfast before heading out to begin your fishing day. You will have a full 12 hours on the water each of the next six days, returning to the Zaltan around 6pm for all-inclusive cocktails and dinner.

The day before your flight home, you’ll take the charter flight from Santa Isabel back to Manaus. You should arrive back into Manaus before lunch and will be transferred to the Mercure Hotel, where a double occupancy room will be reserved for you. This property is in a vibrant part of the city, within walking distance of the Manauara Mall, a huge four story shopping area with lots of shops and restaurants. A great way to spend your final day in Brazil.

The fierce fighting peacock bass is one of the most prized species in angling. The Zaltan’s experienced guide team is focused on positioning you for shots at 15-20+ pound trophy fish that will test the limits of your tackle.

With all tackle provided, this is a true “show up and fish” experience. Because your fishing boat is moored to The Zaltan, your time on the water is maximized, allowing you more of the topwater explosions, acrobatic displays and line-melting fighting action for which peacock bass are renowned.

You can expect to see caiman, pink porpoises and monkeys during your days fishing the Rio Negro, but there really is no telling what else you may encounter during your visit. Peacock bass fishing is a fast and furious pursuit, and often these wildlife encounters provide a much-needed respite for muscles fatigued from casting, ripping monster-sized plugs through the water and fighting fish.

The Zaltan was designed to provide the Amazon’s most upscale angling experience. With fascinating decor elements inspired by Brazil’s indigenous culture, The Zaltan accommodates up to 20 guests per week in stylish comfort.

The vessel’s interior comprises 10 spacious, air conditioned staterooms with private walk-in bathrooms and breathtaking views of the Amazon. Opulent common areas invite guests to enjoy time together connecting over cold drinks, delicious locally-inspired cuisine and the shared passion for adventure.
