While Cordoba, Argentina is well known as the premier destination for high-volume dove shooting, just beyond the Sierras de Cordoba lies a hidden gem hunting opportunity where hunters can enjoy the thrill of decoying pigeons as well as droves of doves. Understanding the increasing demand for pigeon shooting, Trek’s partners at HandH outfitters acquired and renovated Escondido Lodge to take advantage of the region’s thousands of acres of peanut, soybean, and corn fields that provide an irresistible food source for migrating pigeons.

Escondido offers all the hallmarks of an HandH property, including the highest levels of service and cuisine and a team of client-focused lodge and field staff. This is a best-of-both-worlds adventure where you’ll experience the thrill of decoying pigeons in great numbers, as well as the region’s incomparable high-volume dove shooting.

Your trip begins with an overnight flight from The U.S., arriving in Buenos Aires the following morning. Upon clearing customs in B.A., a Trek partner representative will meet you to assist with airport transfer for your flight to Cordoba. A time-saving private charter option is available as well for an additional cost.

In Cordoba, an H&H representative will meet you and assist with your transfer to H & H Outfitters Grand Caravan where you will enjoy a scenic flight to Escondido Lodge, landing within a short  drive to the lodge. Everyone will be greeted with champagne then shown to their respective rooms. After stowing your gear and getting changed into hunting clothes, we will have a quick lunch then depart to the field for an afternoon shoot.

Upon returning to the lodge, you’ll be met with appetizers and cocktail hour prior to showering for dinner. The gourmet dinners at Escondido are a combination of European dishes combined with typical Argentine cuisine. We use our own grass fed beef, so the meat you will enjoy during your stay is second to none. Escondido will meet the expectations of the most discerning international traveler.

Over the next four days, you’ll enjoy two full days and two half days of some of the world’s best guided dove and pigeon shooting. On the last day, you will have a morning hunt and settle up before saying your goodbyes, followed by a transfer for your return flight on H & H Outfitters Grand Caravan where you will enjoy a scenic flight to Cordoba Airport where you will board your flight to Buenos Aires where you will connect for your overnight flight home to The States.

Escondido lies just over the Sierras de Córdoba, west of Córdoba City, and is situated among thousands of acres dotted with irrigation pivots watering fields of peanuts, soybeans, and corn. From March through August, these crops offer an expansive food source for migrating pigeons and resident eared doves. The fields around Escondido are some of the lower pressured locations in the Cordoba region. Pigeon hunting here is an excitement filled experience, as hunters shoot from blinds as large birds drop down onto decoys set up by your bird boy. The dove hunting is typical Cordoba high-volume, no limit experience, and our bird boys are eager to keep your guns loaded for action all day.

A typical day begins with a wake-up call at 7:00 a.m. and a full breakfast is served. You will depart for the shoot around 8:00 a.m. Wake-up calls and departure times may vary a little, depending on the time of year and where you will be hunting that day. Most drives to the dove fields are 20-45 minutes from the lodge. As to how many shells each hunter will shoot, it depends on the hunter; most hunters can expect to shoot two to three cases of shells per day for dove while pigeons are limited to 200 per hunter per day. Many days, you will enjoy lunch in the field, which is always a delight. A nearby shady area is set up for an Argentinean-style barbecue, and past visitors know that one thing the Argentineans can do is have a cookout. You will enjoy grilled steaks, sausage, pork, fresh salads, bread and desserts. Water, soft drinks, and excellent local beers and wines round out the meal. If the group stays in the field, there are hammocks where hunters can lay down for a nap. On some days, you will return to the lodge for lunch and there will be time for a nap afterwards.

Upon returning to the lodge, relax with drinks and hearty hors d’oeuvres while preparing for dinner. The gourmet dinners at Escondido are a combination of European dishes combined with typical Argentine cuisine. We use our own grass fed beef, so the meat you will enjoy during your stay is second to none. Escondido will meet the expectations of the most discerning international traveler.

Escondido Lodge is located in the western side of Cordoba province in the largest irrigated area in Argentina.
The peanut, sunflower and sorghum fields in the area together with many acres of roost make this area an incredible habitat for doves and pigeons. The pigeon season runs from the last week in March to the first week in August. The dove season runs year round.

The lodge has eight spacious bedrooms with private bathrooms. Escondido’s adjoining living and dining area’s provide an ideal gathering place for group’s seeking to connect around the day’s activities and their passion for the outdoors.
