Uruguay Pigeon & Perdiz Hunting
La Bellaca opened its doors to hunters for 2014 and describing it as a smash hit would be an understatement. This Estancia was constructed and is used as a vacation home for nine months out of the year when it is not playing host to hunters from all over the world. Just 50 minutes from Montevideo and 30 minutes from Punta del Este, Bellaca sits in the hills of the Sierra de Minas with elevation from 600-1200 feet above sea level. Wing shooters commonly have both pigeon and perdiz on their list of desired species, and La Bellaca is the best in Argentina for pigeon and perdiz hunting.
Our Outfitter Luis Brown started his company in 1986 after receiving a degree from the prestigious Wharton School of Finance. His destinations have covered the board in outfitting, from peacock bass in Brazil to wingshooting in Argentina. With the creation of La Bellaca Luis Brown passes the touch to his son Patrick, who runs both their Golden Dorado program as well as this new mixed bag operation.
Getting to Uruguay, we recommend using American Airlines and flying their direct non-stop service to Montevideo from Miami. Upon arrival into Montevideo Patrick Brown will assist you through customs and you will quickly be on your way to the lodge.
For the traveling wing shooter, Uruguay pigeon and perdiz hunting typically ranks very high on their list of desired hunts, yet very few destinations in Uruguay can offer quality hunts for both. Located in the Sierra de Minas just north of Punta del Este is a part of Uruguay that very few hunters have shot or even seen. It is off the beaten path with pastureland offering prime perdiz habitat along with lush fields of Sorghum offering ample food for the pigeons. Your mornings are spent walking behind a Brittany as the fog lifts out of the valleys, while your afternoons are spent among a spread of decoys as a group of pigeons approach.
La Bellaca, created from using repurposed stone from near by Estancias is more than just a wingshooting lodge. This ranch was built as a vacation home for the family to enjoy time away from the bustling city of Montevideo. Away from the city life but still affording all the modern conveniences, La Bellaca boasts six large bedrooms with heated floors in the private bathrooms, large living area and covered terrace with outdoor barbeque. The lodge chef will surely delight at each sitting, preparing, fresh fish, famous South American beef and even game from the field.
For those who follow our field journals through the year, you know that May ushers in our various dove Bolivia programs as well as the mixed bag programs in Argentina and Uruguay, in addition to the Pigeon program in Paraguay. So, quite a bit on our collective plates here...
